“My Old Man” is a poppy folk track in the vein of Simon & Garfunkel, but DeMarco’s patented vocals introduce a self-deprecating mood over synth pulses and incessant guitar strums. On the other hand, the title track “This Old Dog” expands on the sentiments offered in his previous mini LP ‘Another One’. Judging by what we’ve heard so far, the LP will mark a return to form amidst some slight changes and experimentation. DeMarco’s third official full-length album ‘This Old Dog’ (pre-order it here) will arrive May 5th via Captured Tracks. The internet’s favourite indie goofball Mac DeMarco is back after a two year absence – and my gosh does it feel good! With this year already following the 2016 tradition of strange intensity, DeMarco’s reappearance in the form of two fresh tracks and news of an impending album comes with a big sigh of relief.
